One sentence can carry a whole day. Say it or type it, and Chirp separates it into one entry per purchase, and, with auto-approve off, you review them as a stack of cards. Auto-approve is on by default; turn it off in Settings to use this review flow.
The whole day in one breath.
"Coffee six, gas forty, Target sixty-two, car wash fifteen, flowers twenty."
That is five purchases. Chirp comes back with five cards, each with its own amount, name, and category, and you swipe through them: right to keep, left to toss. Reviewing five cards takes about as long as reading this paragraph.
You say“coffee six, gas forty, Target sixty-two, car wash fifteen, flowers twenty”

Commas help, but pauses work too. You do not have to remember the purchases in order, name every merchant, or say "dollars" once. Say the things you would remember: "flowers twenty" beats "retail transaction 20.00" three weeks later.
When five cards feels like four too many.
If you log in batches every day and your sentences come back right, the review swipes can start to feel like a formality. That is what the auto-approve switch is for: parsed entries land in your record directly, without waiting for a swipe. It is one switch in Settings, off unless you turn it on. The how and the trade-off are at how to turn on auto-approve.
Most people should keep swiping. The review is what makes the record yours. But batch loggers who trust their sentences have earned the shortcut.
Practice with yesterday.
The fastest way to feel this is to log yesterday and today in one sentence right now; that is also the official rule for catching up after missed days. Start with how to log a voice expense if you are new to the capture flow.
