How to turn on auto-approve.

What the auto-approve switch does in Chirp, where it lives in Settings, who it is for, and what you give up when entries skip the card.

Auto-approve is on by default. Typed and spoken entries save without waiting for a review swipe. Turn it off in Settings if you want to check each amount, merchant, date, and category before approving it.

What it does.

With auto-approve on, entries land in your record the moment Chirp parses them. Say "groceries fifty-eight, pharmacy eleven" and both are logged without waiting for a swipe.

Where the switch is.

Open Settings, find the Customization section, and flip the switch labeled "Auto-approve"; its subtitle reads "skip review for typed and voice entries." Flip it off again any time; entries already logged stay logged either way.

Auto-approve Skip review for typed & voice entries

The switch as it appears in Settings. Tap it.

Who should turn it on.

Auto-approve earns its place once two things are true: you log every day, and your sentences come back right almost every time. Daily batch loggers, the "whole day in one breath" people, hit that point within a couple of weeks. If that is you, the how-to is at log five expenses at once.

Who should leave it off.

Everyone else, honestly. The review swipe is not overhead; it is the reason you trust the record. A wrong amount caught on a card costs one tap; the same amount found weeks later costs the confidence that made the log worth keeping. Turn auto-approve off to make that review part of every entry. What is and is not saved, and who can see it, is spelled out on the security page.

Turn it on when the swipes feel like a formality. Turn it back off the first time something lands wrong. There is no penalty for changing your mind.
